FOR The Sopranos
WHY? Few things are certain in this life, but one is, if you snitch to the Feds on The Sopranos, you're gonna get whacked, and the other is that de Matteo will win a Golden Globe for doing so. In retrospect, it all seems so inevitable. Viewers should have known back when de Matteo's Adriana nearly broke down and confessed to the Mafia Wives Club (or, for that matter, when de Matteo signed on to costar on NBC's Joey), that the big-haired, long-nailed Jersey Girl was not long for this world. For convincingly depicting a season-long state of escalating panic and moral anguish, de Matteo was rewarded with an emotional, unforgettable, yet shockingly discreet death scene (no head in a bowling bag for Ade). She should also be rewarded with a bookend for the Emmy she won in September.
(Golden Globe nomination: Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture Made for Television)
