''The entire planet is bulldozed by aliens,'' says director Garth Jennings, setting the scene for his adaptation of Douglas Adams' 1979 sci-fi comedy fiction, which stars Mos Def and The Office's Martin Freeman. The latter's character ''begins a journey to find the answer to life, the universe, everything! Or, rather, the question. Because the answer,'' says Jennings, a vet of Beck and Badly Drawn Boy videos who's making his directorial debut, ''turns out to be 42, of course.'' 42? ''42, yes.'' Of course.
