We're Dyin' For...

Valley Of The Dolls -- Here's why we want the trashy classic starring Patty Duke released stateside

EW's dying for ''Valley of the Dolls'' on DVD

''Boobies, boobies, boobies. Nothin' but boobies. Who needs 'em?'' America does, damn it! Valley of the Dolls' starlet Neely O'Hara (Patty Duke) may have licked booze, pills, and the funny farm, but she's never touched the folks at Fox, who have yet to release the 1967 trashtacular on DVD Stateside. ''We've got thousands of movies in our library,'' says Fox senior VP Steve Feldstein. (True, but only one of them features Duke singing a duet in a sanitarium!) ''It's in process and yet to be scheduled.'' Perhaps that's because the studio's big-screen Dollsremake — which director Betty Thomas (camp cred: The Brady Bunch Movie)has been developing since 1998 — is still without a start date. Note No. 2 to Fox: We're gonna need footage of Judy Garland (who lasted less than a week in the role of Susan Hayward's Broadway bitch, Helen Lawson); Raquel Welch (who screen-tested for Sharon Tate's bombshell Jennifer but turned the part down); and Hayward and Duke's infamous bathroom catfight.
