In his review of the Phantom of the Opera, Owen Gleiberman writes ''Emmy
Rossum, who looks like Jennifer Beals...'' (true enough) ''...and sings
like Julie Andrews.'' What?! It's either the most horrific or hilarious
overstatement I have ever read! To equate vocal mediocrity with arguably
the greatest voice of 20th-century musical theater? Give me a break, Owen!
