Kid Rock

If they ever made a celebrity version of Cops, Kid Rock's run-in with the law Wednesday morning might be a good episode. According to the Associated Press, the rap-rocker was arrested in Nashville for allegedly punching a DJ at a strip club. ''Everything is wonderful. It was a beautiful night,'' the 34-year-old told reporters after he was freed on $3,000 bond.

Rock had gone to Christie's Cabaret in downtown Nashville after performing at a memorial for country songwriter Merle Kilgore (''Ring of Fire''), who died last week. Police told AP that at around 3 a.m., Kid Rock had slugged the Christie's DJ over his choice of music. Television footage showed the DJ, Jay Campos, with a red mark on his face and broken eyeglasses. Police told AP they caught up to Rock (real name: Bob Ritchie) — whom they described as ''very cooperative'' — around 8 a.m. at the apartment where he was staying.

''There are no major injuries but an assault did take place,'' Nashville police Sgt. James Smith told reporters. If convicted on the misdemeanor simple assault charge, Kid Rock could face up to a year in jail.
