Sword of Dracula

Details Writer: Jason Henderson; Genre: Fiction; Publisher: IDW Publishing

Retooling Dracula is tricky — witness Van Helsing. Writer Jason Henderson establishes the vampire lord as a contemporary para-military target with the creepy-cool ability to shape blood into weaponry and castles. Occasionally, Henderson strains to keep his vamp-huntin'repartee hip, but he's done his homework. The book's rotating artist lineup makes its look maddeningly uneven, but Greg Scott's opening chapters scan like storyboards for Black Hawk Down fused with the best of '70s grind-house horror.
