The Cosmic Game (2005)

For their fourth album, this Washington, D.C., duo take their usual bites out of Brazilian, Jamaican, and Indian music in order to spice up their down-tempo, café-friendly sound. They even invite a few eclectic guests — Perry Farrell, the Flaming Lips, David Byrne — but never quite hit it off with them. Hampered by lazy beats and an overabundance of world-music window dressing, the Corporation need to draw up a more dynamic sonic mission statement if they want to boost their shareholders' confidence.
