While you're waiting to see who'll become the next American Idol winner, one proven Idol champ may be coming to a theater near you. After touring a number of times with other Idol folk, the show's first winner, Kelly Clarkson, is embarking on her first solo tour. The 34-city trek across North America begins March 30 in Tulsa and ends May 29 in Vancouver. ''Nothing makes me happier than being on the road,'' Clarkson said Tuesday in a statement. ''I can't wait to see the fans and perform my new material.''
The 22-year-old singer will be promoting her new CD, Breakaway, in mostly theater-size venues, an arrangement that she said ''will be a great opportunity for me to connect with my die-hard fans in an intimate setting.'' Details of the tour dates and ticket sales are posted at Clarkson's website.
