To all those who snickered at the Oscar-telecast clip of a hirsute Vin Diesel emoting in Sidney Lumet's upcoming drama, Jackie Dee: How quickly you forget. Diesel proved his dramatic chops in both 1998's Saving Private Ryan (as the witty but doomed Private Caparzo) and 2000's Boiler Room (as a witty but doomed stockbroker, above). And sure, The Pacifier — which opened last weekend to a surprising $31 million — is lightweight stuff, but you try acting with kids. Now, on to more important concerns: Vin, the hair? No.
