The wonderful thing about the Stand by Me Deluxe Edition is that you don't have to know by heart the theme song to Have Gun Will Travel or have a crush on Annette Funicello to connect with the four best friends who come of age while searching for a dead body. Firmly entrenched in nostalgia for the 1950s, Rob Reiner's adaptation of Stephen King's 1982 novella The Body is a timeless classic for boys of all eras, best captured by the film's final line: ''I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was 12. Jesus, does anyone?'' Unfortunately, this new edition is a viewing replica of the special edition that Columbia released just three years ago, enhanced only by a 32-page collectible booklet and a bonus music CD with eight '50s ditties. A 2002 look-back, which includes interviews with King, Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, and Richard Dreyfuss, is still the real prize, but overall, this is more redux than deluxe. If you feel the need to upgrade, then two for flinchin'!
