Neither American Anthem nor Gymkata exists on DVD. But fortunately for those of us who celebrate the craptacular, these inferior films have made superior digital offerings.
SHOWGIRLS: V.I.P. Edition
Designed for group viewings, it's both
interactive, with five drinking games and a lap-dance tutorial, and
informative, with third-party commentary and a full-length trivia track.
Lesson: ''Talent'' involvement isn't mandatory.
THE TOXIC AVENGER: 21st Anniversary Golden Edition
Troma-tizing moments
include original Toxie Mitch Cohen, now president of a copy machine
company, asking his salesmen questions like ''Were you high when you saw
the film?'' Lesson: Let the fans speak.
THE BEASTMASTER: Special Edition
Commentary by a director banned from
the editing room + Marc Singer on learning that he'd be saved by ferrets
= something special. Lesson: Produce new making-ofs for older films cast
and crew may be ready to dish.
YOU GOT SERVED: Special Edition/TAKE IT TO THE STREETS
Two commentaries
mean you're not the only one chanting ''Served! Served! Served!'' And
thanks to the dance instructional, you too now have a routine in which
you ''pants'' someone. Lesson: Bring on Breakin' + Breakin' 2: Electric
Boogaloo The Ultimate Collection.
