If the 1980s were all about big, stupid rock & roll, then one of the biggest and stupidest artists was Billy Idol. Still, songs like ''Rebel Yell'' were so damn catchy, you couldn't help but buy into them. On his comeback CD, Billy Idol once again serves up the cheese (sample lyrics: ''Make me scream/All night, all night long/Gonna get extreme/All night, all night long''), but this Devil's Playground lacks the youthful urgency of truly vital Idol.
