Will this weekend at the box office be more Sin-ful or Beauty-ful? Count on evil to triumph over good.
Thanks to its comic book roots and stellar cast (including Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, and Benicio Del Toro), Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City should own the weekend, bringing out its young male fanbase to the tune of around $26 million.
Meanwhile, Queen Latifah and company will open Beauty Shop for business. Featuring the same formula as the Barbershop movies (which premiered with $20.6 million and $24.2 million), the comedy should easily claim second place with $19 million.
Last weekend’s top film, the comedy Guess Who, will take a 45 percent hit to $11 million, while Robots and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous will slip to $8 million and $7 million, respectively. After the first Miss Congeniality logged four weeks in the top five, the sequel will only last two? Not exactly fabulous.
