Before he hooked up with Dr. Dre, sold more than 1.6 million albums, and had words with 50 Cent, Compton rapper the Game recorded this disc in 2002 with Bay Area artist-mogul JT the Bigga Figga. But the newly released Resurrection is not just a lazy cash grab. While an abundance of no-name guests dilute tracks like the Dre knockoff ''Krush Groove'' and the faux-crunky ''Blacksox,'' there's redemption in ''Promised Land.'' Built on an exquisitely soulful boom-bap beat, the song is an engaging sneak peek at an MC honing his nascent rhyme skills. In a way, it's like watching a Documentary.
