On this emotional roller coaster of an album that the wry Brit heroine would both relish and bemoan, strong new songs from Sheryl Crow, Shelby Lynne, and promising upstart Rosey are overshadowed by bland cuts and mawkish covers, including ''It's Raining Men'' by a painfully Spiceless Geri Halliwell. Something's lost in the translation, as gutsiness gives way to overproduced pap, er, pop, making the Bridget Jones's Diary soundtrack much closer in spirit to ''Ally'' than ''Bridget.''
