Release Date: Apr 12, 2005; Lead Performance: Of Montreal

This Athens, Ga., collective is back with yet another spacey rendering of '60s pop, overwrought with loopy interludes and brainy metaphors. And while Of Montreal sure sound as if they know their stuff (not many bands using the word sanguinary these days), they appear to think bizarreness is the same thing as originality. ''Oslo in the Summertime'' is a cool robotic stroll amid the many Brian Wilson throwbacks, but most of The Sunlandic Twins (which includes a bonus EP) seems too keenly fascinated by its own intelligence.
