Martin and Lewis. Cheech and Chong. And now, it appears, you can add Hilton and Richie to the list of comedy duos that have unceremoniously split. After months of rumors that she and Nicole Richie were on the outs, Paris Hilton showed up at the Young Hot Hollywood Style Awards on Wednesday with another socialite/pop star's daughter on her arm: Kimberly Stewart, spawn of Rod. Hilton told USA Today that Stewart was replacing Richie as her official new best friend when Season 4 of The Simple Life shoots this May in Maui. ''It's my show; I've had it three seasons, and I just want to freshen it up make it newer and funner,'' Hilton said. Asked if there was any friction between herself and Richie, Hilton suggested that her longtime sidekick simply didn't have time to appear on Simple Life anymore, saying of Richie, ''She's engaged and she's working like a dog.''
Fox, however, wouldn't confirm that Hilton and Richie, who both remain under contract to the network, wouldn't be working together anymore. ''We are currently discussing internally the creative direction of the next season of The Simple Life,'' the network said in a statement. ''We are huge fans of both Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie and look forward to solidifying our plans for the next installment of this fantastic franchise in the very near future.''
Richie herself hasn't commented, thought TV's The Insider reported that she hopes to get her own reality show on Fox that would costar her fiancé, Adam ''DJ AM'' Goldstein. Hey, once they marry, Fox could call the show The Simple Wife.
