Details Release Date: Apr 12, 2005; Writer: Bill McKibben; Genres: Nonfiction, Travel; Publisher: Crown

In this tiny jewel of a book, Wandering Home, Bill McKibben describes a meditative ''long walk'' from the pastoral Vermont town where he lives to a remote cabin in New York's Adirondacks. Discursive and relaxed, McKibben's enjoyable essay puts forth no argument and preaches few sermons, but offers the chance to spend a couple of hours with a marvelous writer who has thought deeply about the environment, loves this part of the country, and knows how to be a first-class traveling companion.
