Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith
(May 19)PREMISE In the space of a few minutes, Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker (top left) transforms from pouty young Jedi into a red-eyed dark lord of the Sith. Also, galactic war plunges the Republic into Imperial darkness. Bummer.
SLOGAN ''The saga is complete!''
TRAILER HIGHLIGHTS Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid, top right) sneers. Yoda and Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson) fret. Amidala (Natalie Portman, middle) weeps. Obi-Wan slices. Chewbacca (welcome back!) grunts. Finally, the familiar mechanical visage of Darth Vader appears (bottom). Luckily, Jar Jar is nowhere in sight.
PERCENTAGE OF PLOT SPOILED 60 percent
VERDICT Still looks a little talky, but c'mon, George Lucas could have filled the entire trailer with auditions for the Mos Eisley cantina band and we'd still all rush to Sith, just to see how the saga ends. There's a lot here that suggests the bleak, violent, emotionally wrenching conclusion Lucas has been promising. Trailer grade: B+
