As a wealthy rapper, DMX may want to consider hiring a chauffeur. On Friday, the artist formerly known as Earl Simmons was cited for his third alleged driving offense in less than a year, with New York City police citing him for causing a three-car pileup that involved a police car, the New York Times reports. Police told the Times that DMX was driving a 2005 Dodge Magnum SUV on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx Friday evening when he rear-ended another car, which then hit a police cruiser. According to the New York Post, the woman driving the second car and two officers in the cruiser were treated for minor injuries at local hospitals. The rapper, his pregnant wife, and two young children in the SUV were unharmed. He was charged with driving with a suspended license and released.
Last June, DMX was arrested for a road-rage incident in another SUV, a 1998 Ford Expedition, in the parking lot of New York's John F. Kennedy airport. Police said he crashed the vehicle through a toll gate, then claimed he was an FBI agent and tried to drag another driver from his parked car. In December, he pleaded guilty to charges of reckless endangerment and driving under the influence (he said he was taking Valium at the time) and was sentenced to a year's probation, the suspension of his license, and the loss of his SUV. A week later, he was arrested north of the city on charges of driving with a suspended license, speeding and driving an unregistered vehicle after he was pulled over doing 104 in a 65 mph zone. According to MTV News, he has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
