Wonder if he's registering at Pearle Vision? Elton John told Britain's Daily Mirror that he plans to marry Furnish in a civil union after Dec. 5, when they become legal in the U.K. John's publicist, Gary Farrow, told Reuters that the wedding could take place as soon as Christmas or else some time next year. The ceremony would take place in Windsor, where Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles recently wed.

John, 58, has been married before; he tied the knot with a German woman, Renate Blauel, in 1984. They split four years later. He's been with documentary filmmaker Furnish, 42, since 1994.

Farrow said that John was motivated in part by the tax breaks that civil unions will now share with straight marriages. Also, ''there won't be a honeymoon,'' John told the Mirror. ''I'm on tour.'' Ooh, can you feel the love tonight?
