Set to earnest orchestral swells, singer Jonathan Donahue's delicate outpourings about nature and enchantment land this trio's sixth disc somewhere between Flaming Lips-style balladry and a high school production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Never ones for restraint, Mercury Rev have packed The Secret Migration with over-the-top theatrics that are truly rousing on skyward numbers like ''Diamonds.'' But much of the CD's faux poetry (''the star of gold in the heart of the climbing rose''?) sounds like the work of a New Age bard.
