7-7:30PM The Life & Times of Juniper Lee (Cartoon Network, TV-Y-7) There may be more than one link between The Real World: San Francisco's Puck and Cartoon Network, but the one that counts is MTV survivor Judd Winick, creator of Juniper Lee. The 11-year-old's family legacy is saving the world from monsters, and while she struggles with the kid thing, she's got beastie-battling down (aging hippie leprechauns, cool; giant flame-spewing hamsters, not). Since this is Cartoon Network, there's plenty to please adults (pity the clown working the kid's birthday party — he has a master's from Yale). A-

6:30-8PM Unknown Soldier: Searching for a Father (HBO, TV-PG) A son longs to know the dad he lost in Vietnam. It is Memorial Day, y'all. It's s'posed to be heavy. . .

7-10:30PM Frederick Forsyth's Icon (Hallmark Channel, TV-14) . . .which is why Patrick Swayze's goin' all Cold War on our asses in this Russian spy thriller. . .

8-10PM Faith of My Fathers (A&E, TV-PG) . . .and John McCain's making us look like wankers 'cause he spent five and a half years in a Hanoi prison, and turned down early release. Okay, maybe he's got a point.

SERIES DEBUT 9-10PM Hell's Kitchen (Fox, TV-PG-L) British chef Gordon Ramsay heads Stateside to give culinary masochists the biggest high since Bill Murray yelled ''Candy bar!''

9-10:59PM Miss Universe 2005 Pageant (NBC, TV-PG) Another year, another Jupiter boycott. Typical.
