Angelina Jolie has issued her clearest denial yet regarding her relationship with her Mr. and Mrs. Smith costar Brad Pitt. In an interview in the upcoming issue of Marie Claire magazine, whose publication coincides with the June 10 release of the Jolie-Pitt thriller about married assassins, the actress denies once again that she and her costar had an on-set affair that helped break up his marriage to Jennifer Aniston. According to excerpts from the interview, as reported by the Associated Press, Jolie says she ''thinks the world'' of Pitt, but when asked point blank if they were romantically involved, she says, ''Absolutely not.''
''To be intimate with a married man, when my own father cheated on my mother, is not something I could forgive,'' she says, referring to actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, who divorced when Jolie was 3. ''I could not, could not look at myself in the morning if I did that.''
Jolie, whose second marriage (to Billy Bob Thornton) ended shortly after the couple adopted Cambodian infant Maddox three years ago, added, ''I am not dating anybody. I think the next man I get involved with would have to become Mad's father, and that's a high bar as far as I'm concerned. I'm not anticipating that coming anytime soon.'' It's not clear whether Jolie's interview was conducted before Pitt's much more coy sitdown with Vanity Fair, or before paparazzi photographed the couple frolicking on an African beach with Jolie's little boy a few weeks ago.
