Sleeping in the Nothing (2005)

EW's GRADE
C+

Details Release Date: Jun 07, 2005; Lead Performance: Kelly Osbourne; Genre: Rock

Kelly Osbourne's Sleeping in the Nothing, the TV starlet's electro record, aims for Fischerspooner with the fab flashes of Gwen (courtesy of Stefani producer Linda Perry), but boasts about as much charisma as the Killers fronted by Ashlee. ''Redlight'' and ''I Can't Wait'' make for fine party starters, and there are fairly groovy beats throughout. But with Sleeping's somber subject matter (date rape, rehab) and Osbourne's devitalized delivery, it feels wrong to get down to these ultimately drab songs.
