''The Godfather''

Marlon Brando, James Caan and Robert Duvall lend their voices to this new game

Mustworthiness A reimagining of Coppola's masterpiece, this game casts its player as a Corleone foot soldier who fights to take control of 1940s New York City. Like the film, the game isn't for the faint of heart: Strangle an enemy and the control pad's pulsating rumble slows with your foe's fading heartbeat.

Family Reunion James Caan and Robert Duvall reprised their roles, as did Marlon Brando, who recorded new dialogue shortly before his death. ''Brando even put Kleenex in his mouth so he'd sound just right,'' says David DeMartini, the game's exec producer.

It's All Fun and Games Until... You tick off die-hard cinephiles. ''It's a bit like Evel Knievel before he jumps over 50 cars,'' DeMartini says. ''Half the audience hopes you succeed, while the other half can't wait to watch you fail.''

Next Godfather hits stores this fall.
