WHO IS HE? Bernie's the husband of geriatric sex therapist Roz Focker (Barbra Streisand) and the stay-at-home dad of Gaylord ''Greg'' Focker (Ben Stiller), who brings home his control-freak future father-in-law (Robert De Niro) to meet his aging-hippie folks.

SETTING AN EXAMPLE Bernie goes to great lengths to show his love for his son (including cheating in a game of touch football).

EMBARRASSING MOMENT When he brags of Greg, ''Can you believe I fathered him with just one testicle?''

FATHERLY ADVICE Bernie's waste-management philosophy: ''If it's yellow, let it mellow; if it's brown, flush it down.''

WHY YOU'LL WATCH No matter how bad your own experiences with parents and in-laws getting together, they couldn't have been as painfully funny as this.

MORE FATHERLY FUN Surprisingly, there are a number of funny moments among the tear-jerking ones in Kramer vs. Kramer (1979).
