In Miss Congeniality, FBI agent Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) is an ugly duckling who must go undercover at a beauty pageant to tease out a terrorist. Michael Caine, in a gleeful turn as the fey beauty consultant entrusted with Gracie's swan status, wins the talent portion of this otherwise banal affair, while Benjamin Bratt, who plays another fed, walks away with the pretty prize. And Bullock really earns that congeniality award, beaming brightly despite the fact that she's starring in yet another clunky comedy.
