WHO IS HE? A European hitman living in a Manhattan tenement, Leon (Jean Reno) takes in a neighbor girl, punk waif Mathilda (Natalie Portman), when the rest of her family is massacred by corrupt cops (led by Gary Oldman) after a drug deal gone bad.
BAD INFLUENCE With only a little reluctance, Leon teaches the eager Mathilda how to handle guns and how to be a sniper.
REDEEMING QUALITIES Leon comes out of his emotional lockdown to become a warm, fatherly figure to Mathilda; he'll do anything to protect her.
