Movie Review

Miami Blues (1990)

EW's GRADE
C-

Details Rated: R; Genre: Mystery and Thriller; With: Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin's strenuously awful performance as a pathological liar, thief, and killer plays like Judd Nelson impersonating Robert De Niro — it's a portrait of the psycho as acting-class creep. Adapted from Charles Willeford's crime novel, this garishly eccentric cat-and-mouse thriller has a few giddy comic highs, but nothing in it makes much sense, from the initial death of a Hare Krishna by broken finger to the crushingly bloody, absurdist finale.
