The Breakin' Collection (2005)

Harken back to a kinder, simpler time, when scores were settled not with a gun or a knife, but a viciously executed headspin. This collection features the three seminal break-dancing epics, Breakin', Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, and Beat Street. The bad news: All three discs are identical to the previously released editions. The good news? That means we still get to witness pregnant women pop-rocking in a maternity ward. (Not to mention Ice-T rapping with ski goggles around his neck.) Plus, at least we'll hear from Shabba-Doo and Boogaloo Shrimp on the bonus fourth disc ... EXTRAS ...or not. Instead of reflections from the casts, we're treated to an assortment of bland, new-school extras filmed at the 2004 B-Boy Summit, where modern-day breakers discuss the importance of battling (''It's like a boxing champion — if you got a title to defend, you must defend it''). There is one vintage break-off between the legendary Rock Steady and New York City Breakers crews...but it's the exact same one from Beat Street! As Shabba might say, that's kinda wack.
