Lacey Chabert

Despite seeing her as a fully blossomed high school babe in Mean Girls and Not Another Teen Movie, Party of Five fans still insist on clinging to the image of a preteen Lacey Chabert. ''People are always coming up to me like, 'Oh, you've grown up,''' says the 22-year-old. ''And then there's an awkward pause, like, 'Well, yeah.'''

In 2000, when Fox's beloved orphan-family melodrama signed off after six seasons, Chabert (then 17) took some time to finish high school and take a few junior-college classes. Since then, other than chirpy voice-over gigs (most notably in 2002's Wild Thornberrys Movie), she's been doing her best to distance herself from the whiny Claudia Salinger character she once embodied. In two upcoming indie films, she plays a coke addict (Fatwa) and a call girl (Pleasure Drivers). And in the ABC Family movie Same as It Never Was, Chabert stars as a college student forced to care for her 7-year-old half sister when her dad and stepmom die. Sounds a little Party of Five-ish. ''There's no cancer, no alcoholism,'' she says. ''It's actually very light and funny.''
