''Leave It to Beaver'' never had this problem. In 1958, when it jumped from CBS to ABC, nobody asked, Hey, what about the website? But as the WB's ''Buffy the Vampire Slayer'' pulls up stakes for UPN, the fate of Buffy.com remains with the Watchers Council. After the news broke, Buffy creator Joss Whedon hit the message boards at The Bronze, a Buffy fansite, to vow: ''There will always be a Bronze.''

When NBC ditched ''Freaks and Geeks'' last year, loyalists could stay in touch at FreaksandGeeks.com, owned by production company DreamWorks. But the WB owns Buffy.com. ''Fans have a real community there,'' Whedon tells EW. ''I want to make sure they're not left out in the cold.'' The WB will keep the site going as long as Buffy's ''still on the WB.'' And Whedon declares, ''If we have to make a new site, we will.'' Just in case, Joss, leaveittobeaver.com is for sale.
