My Name Is Earl

Tuesdays, 9 p.m., NBC (debuts Sept. 20)

What It's About The titular two-bit crook (Jason Lee, pictured) decides to make amends for a lifetime of sins — one at a time — after getting an unlikely lesson in karma involving Carson Daly and a scratch-off lottery ticket.

Why It's Worthy A sitcom that's not set in a major city? And doesn't focus on a pack of well-groomed yuppie pals? That actually makes you laugh? Bring it on!

Scene Stealer Jaime Pressley (Jack & Jill) as Earl's hilariously trashy ex-wife, Joy
