(CBS) 10-11 PM Starts Sept. 21

Welcome to the new New York! Those complaints that the third entry in the CSI franchise was too dark and depressing have registered with executive producer Anthony Zuiker, who promises season 2 will feature less gritty and more city. All new ''colorful'' sets have been built (stars Gary Sinise and Melina Kanakaredes will now work out of a high-tech high-rise rather than that dingy old lab), new ''hipper'' wardrobes have been commissioned, and even the lighting will be ''more accessible.'' That's not to say there still won't be a lot of red: The season starts with a man falling off the Empire State Building. Zuiker also promises that ''we'll be losing one of our primary characters in the first two episodes.'' In November, look for a week of crossover episodes with CSI: Miami. ''This year, you'll really be able to feel New York when you watch the show,'' says Zuiker. The colorful, hipper, more accessible New York.
