Invasion

Wednesdays, 10 p.m., ABC (debuts Sept. 21)

What It's About A hurricane brings something far more mysterious and sinister than heavy winds and rain to a small Florida town, and an extended family — including ex-spouses Russell (Eddie Cibrian) and Mariel (Kari Matchett) — finds itself at the center of the spookiness.

Why It's Worthy Beneath the sci-fi chills is an interesting take on the dynamics of divorce and remarriage, which is skillfully played by the strong ensemble cast (including, from left, Lisa Sheridan, Cibrian, Ariel Gade, Matchett, Evan Peters, and William Fichtner).

Scene Stealer Matchett makes an eerily menacing mother figure who is strangely affected by the storm.
