This self-released double disc (the funk freak's first album of new music since 1996) is better than anyone should expect from an artist whose post-'70s output is more erratic than a Phil Niekro knuckleball. A veritable tour of the P-Funk galaxy, How Late Do U Have 2BB4UR Absent? touches down on psychedelic-soul (''You Can Depend on Me''), stripped-down funk (''Paradigm,'' featuring Prince), and plenty of pun-filled, booty-moving jams. Disc 1 is a solid B, but the spotty second disc brings the set down to a C+.
