To honor the DVD debut of Monster-in-Law, we tried to give the aerobicist/memoirist/activist Jane Fonda a third degree worthy of her acerbic title character. Naturally, she was having none of it.
Why choose such a light, fluffy comedy for your big comeback?
FONDA:I'm real different from how I was 15 years ago, and I wanted to see if I could have fun acting.
Did you bond with costar Jennifer Lopez over your shared histories of intense public scrutiny?
FONDA: We got along great, though I don't know if bonding is the right word. She's so busy.
Did you give her any advice for surviving such a life?
FONDA:She didn't ask. I'm not going to give it if it's not asked for.
What did your own family think of the movie?
FONDA: I took my grandkids [ages 6 and 2] to see it, and they'd never seen me act. They thought it was funny. My grandson said, ''Grandma, you look just like you do!''
