Commander in Chief

Tuesdays, 9 p.m., ABC (debuts Sept. 27)

Why you need to see ''Commander in Chief''

What It's About When the president suffers a brain aneurysm, Mackenzie Allen (Geena Davis, pictured), the independent vice president he reluctantly chose to score points with female voters, finds herself elevated to the nation's highest office.

Why It's Worthy Sure, the show's pilot episode is just this side of hokey, but Davis makes an appealing president, and her scenes opposite a power-hungry speaker of the house (Donald Sutherland) promise some heavyweight drama ahead.

Scene Stealer Once and Again's Ever Carradine as Allen's loyal speechwriter
