A new breed of white MC, Paul Wall favors the countrified gutter flow of his native Houston over hipster cool and potty humor. Though a glut of guests (T.I., Kanye West) obscures The People's Champ's individual flavor, the slithery funk of ''Smooth Operator'' and the jittery New Order-ish synth vibe of ''They Don't Know'' show he's got some hits in the bag.
