Blossom: Still Very Special

Catching up with Mayim Bialik -- The former ''Blossom'' star talks about losing touch, Ph.D's, and kicking ass

She hung up the floppy flower hat 10 years ago, but Blossom's back. After a turn on Fat Actress last spring, Mayim Bialik pops up on Curb Your Enthusiasm on Oct. 2, and her Very Special Sitcom recently got the E! True Hollywood Story treatment, branding it an American classic. Finally, Bialik is days away from having her first child, and a dissertation away from earning a Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA. Doctor Blossom? Whoa.

Do you keep in touch with the Blossom folks?

We don't really. It's hard when you create a family and then the thing that kept you together is no longer. Everybody goes their separate ways. I've heard we all live within about three blocks of each other; I'm amazed we haven't run into each other.

Tell me five ways your dissertation is going to help your acting career.

Oh, my gosh. I don't think it's going to have any relevance.

Former Wonder Years star Danica McKellar has a math proof named after her. Can you kick her ass?

[Laughs] I don't know.
