What advice do you wish your fans would follow to help them get more involved?
''Don't watch so much TV, maybe! Look, everyone talks about not having time for things but they know in their hearts that we all waste time with lots of stupid stuff. You should have fun, but there's definitely time in your week to do something. You don't have to wait until you're successful to help. We were giving money from our records before we were making any money. Just figure out a way to consistently do something maybe put aside a dollar a day. Anybody can afford that.''
Do you have any specific wish for your fans in the coming year?
''I would hope fans donate a lot of money [to charity]! Or a lot of people could donate their time. I have mixed feelings about publicizing charity, but hopefully it can inspire some people.''
Stars Stellastarr* Wish They Could Meet
Singer Shawn Christensen: ''I would like to meet Keira Knightley, just to see if she's that gorgeous in real life.''
Guitarist Michael Jurin: ''I've had a longtime crush on Milla Jovovich, ever since The Fifth Element. Maybe it has something to do with the Band-Aid dress she wore.''
SC: ''I would also love to be in a Woody Allen film. My favorite is Manhattan. It has one of the best intro sequences to a movie, ever.''
MJ: ''My favorite band in the world is the Jesus and Mary Chain. I'd love to hang out with them though in interviews they're notorious a -- holes. They might just blow you off and be d -- -s.''
The Comedy Album Best-Selling Stand-Up Dane Cook Wishes He'd Recorded
''Most comics like to walk the edge from time to time. George Carlin has rented a room there and just won't budge. He always seems to provoke laughter from me as I'm absorbing his not-so-twisted logic and thinking, He is so right that it's not even funny. I would have to go with Jammin' in New York as an album. 'Golf Courses for the Homeless,' in baseball terms, is a grand slam of a joke. I'd love to have hit it. What comic could deny this? None. But as a specific bit of material from this album that I would have loved to spawn, I'd go with 'Planet Is Fine.' It's as good as you can get. A rant of epic proportions. The one line that always floors me: 'The planet will shake us off like a bad case of fleas.' He's right. He's George Carlin, and if you don't get it: Quit life, because you are bombing.''
What Other Musical Family Does Shooter Jennings Wish He Were Part Of?
''It's a 50-50 tie between the Mansons and the Jacksons. I look like Charles Manson, but I sing like Michael. And Marilyn and Charles are the same family, basically. I'd probably either replace Tito or be another brother who replaced Michael. I'm a little bit darker than he is, though. And if not them, I would be a Partridge.''
A Hairstyle Devendra Banhart Wishes He Could Rock
The psychedelic folkie has a thing for hair. On his shaggy, incense-worthy new album, Cripple Crow, Banhart hopes his future child will be a ''long-haired child.'' His touring band goes by Hairy Fairy. And then there's his unwieldy locks, which only complement his supremely convincing ''far-out'' vibe. With free-flowing follicles in mind, we asked the hirsute troubadour what would be his all-time dream 'do.
