TV's Most Twisted Show

Why ''Killer Instinct'' is TV's most twisted show -- We sit down with the deviant minds behind Fox's new series

''Albinos.'' Won't happen. ''Mouthful of bees.'' Could happen. ''Hale [Johnny Messner] sleeps with a woman, turns out she's a killer.'' Should happen. That's the thinking of the deviant minds behind the deviant crimes on Fox's Killer Instinct (Fridays at 9 p.m.). ''When you nail an idea, it's met with applause and laughter,'' says exec producer Charles Craig, who, for Halloween, gives us tips on writing TV's most haunting moments.

1. Think of the promo. You've got 30 seconds to convince viewers you're not a double-homicide whodunit. ''It's gotta be a double homicide and a snake just came out of the chest of that one guy!''

2. Don't think of your loved ones. ''These aren't things we discuss at home. I make my family watch it just until my name shows up.''

3. Keep it real—er, as real as a liver-snatching perp can be. ''If you don't have the slightest concern of 'I could have met that guy in a bar and ended up with my liver missing,' it becomes more observational and less engrossing.''
