BIRTH Late Night host Conan O'Brien, 42, and wife, ad exec Liza Powel, 34, welcomed son Beckett on Nov. 9 in Manhattan. The couple already have a daughter, Neve, 2.

AILING Baywatch alum Brooke Burns, 27, fractured her neck while diving into her pool on Nov. 10 in L.A. She's expected to make a full recovery.

EXPECTING It's raining Baywatch stars! Gena Lee Nolin, 33, and hockey-player husband Cale Hulse, 32, are expecting a baby in March.

CONTROVERSY Kazakhstan officials have accused Sacha Baron Cohen, 34, a.k.a. Ali G, of defaming their country by having his Kazakh character, Borat, show up at MTV's European Music Video Awards in a plane piloted by a fake Kazakh clutching a vodka bottle. Reps said Borat couldn't be reached ''as he is relaxing at a resort in the Caspian Sea.''... The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (which funds PBS and NPR) released an internal investigation on Nov. 15 that found its former chairman Kenneth Tomlinson, 61, had violated ethics rules in attempts to promote conservative political programming. Tomlinson, who resigned on Nov. 3, called the accusations ''malicious and irresponsible.''

SHOOTING Moviegoer Shelton Flower, 30, was killed after seeing 50 Cent's film, Get Rich or Die Tryin', on Nov. 9 at a Loews theater in Homestead, Pa. Flower was shot in the lobby by an unknown suspect after an argument. Loews removed Tryin' from the theater until police finish their investigation.

COURTS Singer k.d. lang, 45, filed suit Nov. 8 in L.A. against ex-business manager Annabel Lapp for allegedly paying herself hundreds of thousands of dollars in unauthorized fees. The singer is seeking unspecified damages. Lapp did not return EW's phone calls.... L.A. police launched an internal investigation after viewing Internet footage of Jackass' Steve-O, 31, joking with police about what appears to be marijuana.

DEATHS WWE star Eddie Guerrero, 38, of unknown causes in his Minnesota hotel room, Nov. 13. In February 2004, Guerrero became the first Mexican-American to win a WWE title.... David Westheimer, 88, author of Von Ryan's Express, adapted into a Frank Sinatra film, of a massive stroke, Nov. 8, in L.A.... Moustapha Akkad, 72, exec producer of the Halloween franchise, in the Nov. 9 terrorist bombings in Amman, Jordan, which also claimed his daughter, Rima, 34.

AWARDS At the Vibe Awards on Nov. 12, Hottest Hook winner the Game wished rival 50 Cent ''best of luck to a brother, man'' on his new movie — only to reveal a dis aimed at 50's crew etched into his coif: ''G-Unot.'' Them's fighting...curls?

CHAIN REACTION No less than four TV shows referenced Chili's last week, including NBC's The Office, which dined there for a second time. A Chili's rep says it's important the chain be represented ''accurately.'' So is it accurate to say that, like Office manager Michael (Steve Carell), we too can get drunk at Chili's and make out with our boss? Replies the rep: ''I think there are some liberties associated with that.''
