For Your Consideration

''The 40 Year-Old Virgin,'' Laura Linney, and Ron Howard probably won't be on this year's Oscar ballot -- but we're campaigning for them anyway!

Pride and Prejudice: Alex Bailey

Best Supporting Actor

Long Shot: Donald Sutherland

Amazingly enough, the star of M*A*S*H*, Klute, and Ordinary People has never scored an Oscar nomination. He's also perhaps never given as subtly sweet a performance as he does in Pride & Prejudice. As the bemused Mr. Bennet, Donald Sutherland is alternately exasperated and entertained by the antics of his hysterical wife (Brenda Blethyn) and five unmarried daughters. But he visibly softens and brightens when interacting with Elizabeth (Keira Knightley), his feistiest child, and the gentle way he mists up when he learns that she is truly in love should encourage voters to take a new look at this Hollywood veteran.
