Feeling nostalgic for the summer of 2000? If so, Big Momma's House 2 has come to the rescue.
The sequel to the hit comedy, which grossed $117.6 million six years ago, will open in more than 3,000 theaters this weekend. Can it top its predecessor's $25.7 million opening? The first Big Momma had the benefit of a June release date, and six years is a long time between films, but Martin Lawrence's drag creation remains an audience favorite. Expect Big Momma's House 2 to gross $25 million this weekend.
Second place should go to Underworld: Evolution, which will see a drop of 55 percent to $12 million in its second weekend. Also opening this weekend is the Emma Thompson family comedy Nanny McPhee, which stands to gross $9 million, and the military drama Annapolis, which could debut with about $7 million. And the animated flick Hoodwinked will round out the top five with another $6 million.
