WHAT HAPPENED TO THE R. KELLY LAWSUIT?
Masturbation, lewd fondling, and urination were just three of the 21 counts of child pornography Illinois prosecutors filed against R. Kelly in 2002, following allegations that the 39-year-old singer videotaped himself having sex with an underage girl. But despite predictions that
his career wouldn't survive the controversy, Kelly just earned a Grammy nod for the ''Trapped in the Closet'' video and will take home the Stevie Wonder career-achievement award at the Soul Train Music Awards. So, have his troubles gone away? Says his rep: ''In February 2004, prosecutors
dropped seven of the charges. A trial date for the remaining 14 has yet to be set.'' (Similar charges resulting from the same videotape, filed by Florida authorities in 2003, were dismissed two years ago.) In the
meantime, the singer is free on bail, which means we probably haven't seen the last of the pie-eating midget from ''Trapped in the Closet.''
