Exactly one year after Diary of a Mad Black Woman scored a surprise No. 1 opening, multitalented performer Tyler Perry returns with Madea's Family Reunion, which will easily top the box office chart this weekend.
Diary premiered with an astounding $21.9 million last year, and with Madea's larger theater count, it should be able to top that. This Family Reunion should bring out Madea fans to the tune of $25 million.
Second place will go to the snow-dog movie Eight Below, which will see a 45 percent drop to $11 million, while Date Movie will slip 50 percent to $10 million. Rounding out the top five will be Steve Martin's The Pink Panther, as well as the new animated film Doogal, both of which should gross about $8 million. Translation: No woman in drag, no No. 1 debut.
