Corn Fed (2006)

Dismissing Shanon Brown's deubt, Corn Fed, as merely well named would be lazy. Yes, this fetching Iowa gal — the latest ally of spread-thin songwriter/producer John Rich — tends toward hack sentiment. But equating Kid Rock with Hank Williams (''High Horses'') is sheer pandering, and lauding towns with ''nothing but country on the radio dial'' contradicts the set's professed spirit of inclusion. That the songs are often catchy and well sung only makes them more annoying.
