BEST ACTOR Heath Ledger, Brokeback Mountain
''This is an amazing group of actors,'' she raves. ''Joaquin Phoenix is sensational as Johnny Cash. David Strathairn never leaves that character, but I've seen him be better. Terrence Howard is fantastic.'' Calling it a two-man race, she concludes: ''Phil Hoffman was acting as Truman Capote. I never felt that with Heath Ledger. He made me entirely believe that he was that character. I'm a little turned off by Hoffman because he only communes with other actors, whereas Heath is a regular guy who's taking a year off to raise his baby.''

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS Rachel Weisz, The Constant Gardener
Our producer would've voted for Catherine Keener, had the actress been nominated for The 40 Year-Old Virgin. ''I worship at her feet. She is a great, underrated actress. But Capote is one of the few times that I have seen her underutilized.'' So she's checking off Weisz. ''While I didn't particularly like Constant Gardener, she was the life of the movie. She held the screen.''

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR George Clooney, Syriana
After ruling out Paul Giamatti (''I'm tired of his sad-sack performances''), Jake Gyllenhaal (''I know he's a movie star, but I don't get him''), and William Hurt (''bizarre actor giving a bizarre performance''), the race came down to Clooney and Matt Dillon. ''I don't know why Syriana has been so ignored. It was terrific, and he was great in it. He was the heart of the movie. But it would be fun to see Matt Dillon win. That would be memorable: Oscar winner Matt Dillon!''
